U.S. Pipe has announced it will build the first new ductile iron facility in the United States in more than 55 years. Located adjacent to its Bessemer, Alabama operation, the “Flow Through Process Facility” will automate manual pipe making with a state-of-the-art computer control system. U.S. Pipe has released an order to Ajax TOCCO Magnethermic to supply the liquid iron holding furnaces for this project. Ajax TOCCO is headquartered in Warren, Ohio and is a global manufacturer of induction heating and melting equipment. The furnaces Ajax TOCCO will be supplying consist of two 135-ton usable capacities, vertical channel furnaces. Each furnace will be equipped with a single 2500 kW “Jet-Flow” twin loop inductor.
